The Importance of Text Genres
The Importance of Text Genres for Teachers Career Development:
The Text Genres are developed according to the social necessities inside a culture. In the past of mankind, people had contact with different kinds of language for another aimings. It's all forms of languages associated with human activities. Every sort of social activity, human action, is mediated by language.
Thus, ways of speaking arises, within different contexts.
In the past times, hundreads ago, the practice of writing was also related to social and work activities. However, in a very particular context, and far from our concepts, about culture. Hieroglyphics were used by wizards, to invoke spells, or to report the life of a pharaoh, along the painted and ilustrated wall. Getting back to the main topic, its importance lies precisely in its capacity to shape consciences, and to add new values. The work, Ideology of the Industrial Society - by Marcuse, justifies this process, through two concepts: Sublimation and Repressive Desublimation.
Let's summarize, sublimation is a process of construction, reflection, the development of our cognitive and metaphysical capacities. The subject learns to know(and meet), himself better and develops critical awareness. While the other, it is a flattening phenomenon, which settles the behavior of millions of people. That makes them units, a consequence of Repressive Desublimation. This deprives the subject of contact with his inner world. It moves them away from universal concepts. Thus, compulsive consumption is used, by the subjects, and offered tothem, by the Industry, as a valid form of satisfaction. The way of thinking favors the system. Or, what the thinker Foucault calls Discourse.
It is the same word, used by Bronckart, but with a different meaning, for Sociology. A structure that supports the capitalist and industrial system. That allows the dialogue of marketing. That defines what is correct and pleasant and what is not. And not the text-discourse, which involves all kinds of cultural practices or social activities.
We can conclude that Text Types are extremely important for teacher education, because it improves him as a human being; updates your knowledge, as a professional, in addition to being a tool for intervention and construction, for students who will be future citizens. The power from the Text Genres are in the human necessity, to be feed of human values, human contact, feed by feelings and not for things, something affordable through the contact with Text Genres.
So, We realise that the contact with Text Genres, teach the student, how to think. The thinking is increased. The conciousness is enlarged. And this transformation process, is called, Sublimation, by the psychology. While, the subject who don't stimulate the reflection about itself, and about the world, can easily suffer influence from the Repressive Desublimation devices, spread by the media.
